The City was undergoing a massive upgrade and conversion of their process, which required a significant amount of aeration capacity, while keeping energy and maintenance cost to a minimum.

The City of Reading incorporated 5 Sulzer Turbocompressor HST40 Series blowers into the Activated Sludge conversion to our 18 MGD Facility. While dealing with a new technology is always a challenge, we have been delighted with the overall performance of the blowers and user interfacing. Initial concerns of significant increase in energy use have been largely abated, due to the efficiency and versatility of the Sulzer blowers, in conjunction with programmable logic through Cepha Controls. While very early in our operation of these turbocompressors, the City has additionally been enthusiastic about limited maintenance requirements and significantly reduced noise production, as opposed to a traditional motor and centrifugal blower assembly.
